Present were: Carol and Gene Cooper, Glenda Kirkpatrick, Emory Howard, Rex and Phyllis Hanby, Cammi Veenstra. Minutes from April 24, 2006 were read and approved. Financial Statement from 4-26-06 through 9-25-06 was received and approved. OLD BUSINESS: The EHS website was discussed as to how we can keep adding information to keep the website current and interesting. The website is a great source (thanks Skip) for upcoming class reunions, locating lost classmates/Alumni members, and maybe even a "current events" section on the happenings in good 'ol Emmett Idaho. Glenda Kirkpatrick said they would be having their class reunion next summer and would contact the webmaster with information and help in locating classmates. What to do with EHS Alumni funds if we ever disbanned was again discussed. It was decided that according to the feedback received from Alumni members and current board members, that all funds would be disbursed in the form of scholarships. The dollar amounts and quantity of scholarships given would be decided at the time if/when the EHS Alumni Association dissolved. Carol Gosset-Cooper made the motion which was seconded by Phyllis Hanby that if EHS Alumni Association ever disbanned all funds would be given out in scholarships. NEW BUSINESS: Cammi Veenstra announced that Ray Aspiri (class of 1954) generously donated $500 to be given out as a "Mr. V" scholarship. (Tony Villanueva) After much discussion, mostly on how to disburse funds according to by-laws, it was tabled until next meeting (which is scholarship meeting). There was concern as to the Alumni being able to up our scholarship amounts to $500. Also discussed was uping our amounts and or quantity given in scholarships since we have reached the $30,000 in savings goal. It was decided to wait until April meeting to see just how much money comes in and where we are financially at that time. ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Three board member seats needed to be filled this year, Cammi Veenstra nominated Colleen Bicandi to renew her term and Glenda Kirkpatrick and Emory Howard to fill the two vacancies. Emory Howard declined his nomination and Glen Morrow was in turn nominated. Phyllis Hanby seconded the motion. Colleen Bicandi, Glenda Kirkpatrick and Glen Morrow will serve as board members until 2008. Just a little side note ~ it was very nice to see Emory Howard at our board meeting. He is just a few months shy of 90 years old and came over from Boise by himself to attend the meeting.....Thank you Emory!!! We need more people with dedication like yours. Everyone was encouraged to sign up new members, whether you are attending a class reunion or walking down the street! Next meeting will be April 23, 2007 7:00 PM at Emmett High School. Carol Gossett-Cooper made the motion to adjourn, Phyllis Hanby seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm. |
