Normally (as with the other classes that are listed under CLASSES), this page contains the Senior Class "Narrative" or "History" from the yearbook. The webmaster has been informed that the 1968 yearbook did NOT have such a page! The following was graciously submitted by a VERY helpful graduate of the class ... Class of '68 As sophomores we started the year with 196 students. Our class officers were: John Teeter, President; Micki Corn, Vice-President; Patti Sweetnam, Secretary; Harvey Howe, Treasurer; Pat Hobson, Representative; and Jerry Young, Representative. Mr. Gene Smith and Mr. Leonard Pratt were the Advisors. The band's Sweetheart's Ball chose Micki Corn as the Band Sweetheart. As Juniors, we started the year with 194 students. John Teeter was the class President; Jim Barnes, Vice-President; Pete Newell, Secretary-Treasurer; Greg Chapin, Representative; Connie Coleman, Representative. Mr. Ray Mullins and Mr. Gary Selby were the class advisors. We started our Senior year with 172 students. Our Senior Class officers were: Jim Barnes, President; Bill Fisher, Vice-President; Bev Reynolds, Secretary-Treasurer; Kathy Aldape, Representative; and Jerry Young, Representative. Mr. Gil Koga and Mrs. Barbara Henriksen were the class advisors. The Student Council Officers were: John Teeter, Student Body President; Bob Clauson, Vice-President. Representatives to Girl's State were: Sue Gartea, Dawn Little, Patti Sweetnam, Pat Hobson, Cyndee Mabe and Micki Corn. Boy's State Representatives were: David Brown, Dick Thielges, Dick Conley, Doug Raper, Rick Clark and Greg Mills. John Teeter was the Co-Captain of the football team and received the Dean Deen Award. Co-Captain Terry Hartnet was honored as the Most Outstanding Player. The Seniors participated in Homecoming, the Annual Sweetheart's Ball, and the Harvest Ball. The Senior class sponsored the first "Tip Off" dance for Emmett High. Roses and lockets were presented to Queen Patti Sweetnam and her court by the basketball co-captains during the Emmett-Meridian halftime on Feb. 17, 1968. The annual Pep Club Dance "Lollipop Hop" elected Greg Chapin as King and Rick Clark and Jack Hetherington as his court. Baccalaureate and Commencement was Sunday, May 26, 1968. Cyndee Mabe and Pat Hobson were Co-valedictorians and Patti Sweetnam was Salutatorian. The Commencement address was presented by the Honorable Frank Church.
