Class of '77

The following was taken from the 1977 Squaw Butte Saga ...

In the fall of 1973, we anxiously began our freshman year of high school by electing Mike Bark, president; Chris Rood, vice-president; Mary Anne Titus, secretary-treasurer; Mike Hopwood, sergeant-at-arms; and Jane Stevens and Jacki Martin as representatives. Mr. Ray Mullins and Mr. Ron Noble were our advisors. Our first Homecoming float "Head 'Em Off" did not place in the winning category.

During our second year, our float, sporting an authentic outhouse, won first place. Our officers were Chris Rood, president; Steve Kimball, vice-president; Sandy Holmes, secretary-treasurer; and Cathy Link and Mary Anne Titus, representatives. We were advised by Mr. Ron Noble and Mr. Mike Ryals.

Our junior year was one of excitement and anticipation. Leading us through the year was Mike Hopwood, president; Terry Gardner, vice-president; Mary Anne Titus, secretary-treasurer; Kathy Schoenwald and Ronda Walker, representatives; and Mr. Ron Noble and Mr. Mike Ryals, advisors. In the annual Homecoming parade, our float placed second. Early in the year, we received permission from the School Board to have the Junior-Senior Prom in Boise. To meet this goal, we needed to raise approximately $2,500. We began by selling magazines and light bulbs. Later, we sold stationery products and had a carwash. The realization of our goal came true April 15, 1976. The Prom was held at the Rodeway Inn. The theme was "Yesterday" and the colors were blue and pink. With the help of our Prom chairmen - Jacki Martin, Karla Atkinson, Martin Walker, and Greg Wilfong - the Prom was a success.

Seniors at last! Once again our number one Homecoming float placed second. Our senior year will long be remembered as a happy time in anticipation of our graduation, May 21, 1977. We were led by Terry Gardner, president; Greg Wilfong, vice-president; Mary Anne Titus, secretary-treasurer; Fred Iverson and Steve Kimball, representatives; and Mr. Gene Crum and Mr. Mike Ryals, advisors.
